Description
A hand-knotted rug with a geometric pattern, wool on wool; a narrative piece, with a representation like a painting from the artisans of Afghanistan. One of the so-called rugs of war, since the everyday imagery also includes depictions of experience of war which, after so many years, is also a part of life for the villagers and the urban Afghan populations. These rugs had their golden era at the height of the Soviet invasion; as the wars and military conflicts recede, so does the production of these pieces.
